There's no adult on this island Scott can count on besides Derek, now, and Scott has come to accept this. It's true, too, that Derek has begun to show a little bit more concern for the pack- and it's wearing down Scott's inability to trust him. So much so, in fact, that he's told Derek they need him- and that he will, in fact, be Derek's beta during their time on the island. This has yet to get the worry out of Scott's mind. Derek reminds him of his father sometimes, and until Scott can truly believe Derek won't back out on them when they need him- or worse, pull what he did to Jackson on Stiles- Scott can't help but keep a close eye on him.
